Toys R Us predicts 2016’s must-have Christmas toys

Have your little ones written their Christmas lists yet?

Toys R Us has predicted the top toys that are likely to make an appearance on children’s Christmas lists this year.

LEGO, Nerf, Shopkins and Num Noms have all been listed, along with pre-school favourites Thomas the Tank and Paw Patrol.

Toys R Us must-have toys:

  • Chip Robot Dog
  • Furby Connect
  • LEGO Friends Party Shop
  • LEGO Ninjago Samurai X Cave Chaos
  • Minions Pie Face: Coming Soon
  • Nerf Tri Strike
  • Num Noms Glossy Lip Gloss Truck
  • Paw Patrol Air Patroller
  • Selfie Mic
  • Shopkins Shoppies Smoothie Truck
  • Star Wars Spinning Lightsaber
  • Thomas Sky High Bridge Set
  • Toys ‘R’ Us Unicorn
  • Trolls Hug Time Poppy

This year shows a fight between traditional characters and tech toys.

LEGO continues to ride high in the popularity charts, continuing to be a favourite of children for generations. Who else remembers the joy of a new box of LEGO on Christmas morning in your own childhood, followed soon after by spreading it all over the lounge floor and Dad yelling in pain when he treads on a piece? Now it’s your turn to understand the pain of stepping on a brick.

This year’s tech favourites include Chip the Robot Dog and Furby Connect.

Although they are the most expensive toys featured on the list, these toys allow children to bring physical play from the digital dimension and offer interaction.

The least expensive comes in the form of a SelfieMic, a selfie stick and microphone combined that will no doubt become the family favourite over the Christmas holidays as a dedicated ‘app’ connects tunes via a smartphone (not included).

Will your little ones be receiving any of the toys on this list?
