New Mum's Retreat: Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa in Barnaby Moor

Section: Travel

Baby-free windows are rare and hard to come by, that's why we have hunted around for the most relaxing and indulgent getaways for new mums. In this week's hot seat we review Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa in Barnaby Moor...

Overview

A hotel dazzling in charm, 17th-century history and grandeur with a contrasting multi-million-pound spa which can only be described as 'fabulously boujee'. Yep, Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa have expertly combined the past and the modern to create a retreat perfect for mums to relax. Whether you take a friend, partner or family member, you'll be treated to a weekend to remember with state of the art spa facilities, wondrous views of Barnaby Moor and fine-dining that will be hard not to add to your Instagram grid! Hey, we're only human.

Location

Ye Olde Bell is situated at Barnby Moor and is on the borders of Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Rooms

The rooms are both majestic and cosy, meaning after a long hard day of being pampered(!!) you can really feel like a queen in your medieval esque boudoir. Each room has all the usual amenities and little touches including a plate of fruit made you really feel like you were being looked after. It makes a change, eh!

The spa

The state of the art spa was the highlight of the stay, with hi-tech facilities on offer including the UK's first 'snowstorm' shower experience, Sabbia Med sunlight therapy and bespoke sauna rooms depending on your ailments. There were plenty of beds to relax and an indoor-to-outdoor hydro pool to unwind in, no matter the weather. The staff were always on hand to make sure you were comfortable and the drinks menu listed everything from prosecco to freshly-made smoothies. Bliss. We indulged in a 60 min Feng Shui inspired full body massage (£75) which got rid of all our aches, pains and tension. We truly felt like we were floating for the next 24 hours! Ideal, for tired mums who need some TLC.

Let's talk food

We dined at the AA Rosette Restaurant bar 1650 (named after the year the original building was created) where everything on the menu looked utterly delicious... miles away from snacking on your little one's leftover potato smiley faces!  For mains, there were creative takes on classic favourites including steaks, seafood and homemade pies. All food is locally sourced where possible and it's what gives the food it's winning edge. Foodies, rejoice!

The only downside was the limited choice on offer for vegetarians and there were no options for vegan diners - though were assured meals can be made meat-free on request.
