Before kids, all that mattered was miles of golden sand and a sun lounger. Now you need a summer holiday with extras
Just a stone’s throw from a sandy beach, this pool-tastic, stylish resort is enormous, yet retains a village feel. Families will love its pool complex with kids’ Jacuzzi (a real favourite) and little ones will delight in the random appearances of hotel mascot Kiko, an enormous cuddly duck. There are lots of practical touches – buggy-friendly lifts and ramps everywhere. Another selling point is the spa, set back from the complex for extra serenity.
In the Thalasso Center – where therapeutic seawater gives your skin a boost – you can unwind in the salt-water pool, as water jets pummel away stress. The restaurants – think Italian, Japanese and Spanish – offer kids’ menus and any food can be puréed. In the evenings, the kids’ show and disco is surprisingly fun
for grown-ups. Who knew?
Why your baby will love it
For under-threes, there’s a mini-club soft play area, although parents will need to stay around to supervise. Then there’s the incredible Kikoland, a 10,000 square metre adventure play area and kids’ club. It houses everything a holidaying tot could dream of, from pools and tennis courts to play stages, art rooms and endless slides. There’s even a restaurant and snack bar.
Why you'll love it
Once your kids are in bed, you can sip a drink on the balcony of your room, watching the sun drop into the sea. The Royal Kiko suites – special family rooms – have everything from milk warmers to baby food steamers, plus a fridge well-stocked with yoghurts. You get two hours of free babysitting, and can pay €15 per hour for extra.
Classic Collection Holidays offers seven nights at Princesa Yaiza from £1999, based on two adults and a baby sharing a junior suite, bed and breakfast, and includes return flights from London Gatwick to Arrecife, plus private transfers.
