It’s not just over-fours that want kids’ club-style entertainment. Toddlers need fun stuff to do, too
Martinhal Beach Resort and Hotel, Sagres, Algarve, Portugal.
EASY TO GET THERE?
A two-and-a-half flight from London to Faro, then a 75-minute transfer.
WHAT’S ON OFFER?
It’s hard to find exercise programmes you can do with your kids, especially very young ones, but leading luxury family hotel Martinhal is pioneering Mother&Baby Fitness holidays. With a baby from three months, you can book in for yoga, children from nine months can swim on a First Water Experience break or, for those three years and up, there’s Mind and Body Yoga that you can enjoy together. All breaks also include beach walks.
If you’re craving a little me time, there’s a spa, sauna and Pilates classes for you, while your kids are taken care of in the well-run clubs. The crèche (from six to 24 months) offers music therapy, baby massage, and colours and numbers learning. Raposinhos Club (two to four years) has unusual treats, such as puppet theatre and Portuguese dance classes.
Set up perfectly for tiny tots, Martinhal also has a concierge service, where you can pre-book all kinds of baby equipment, from door protectors and thermometers, to safety gates, cots and buggies.
WHERE DO YOU STAY?
The Garden Houses (self-catering with one to three bedrooms) are best for children under four, and are arranged around a garden area with a shared heated pool in the middle. The houses are semi-detached with private, walled and child-safe gardens.
A five-night break starts at £965 per adult in a one-bedroom deluxe Garden House, including flights with Easyjet from Gatwick to Faro. Under twos stay for free, but may have to pay a flight supplement. Visit Real Holidays or call 020 7359 3938.
