Baby-free windows are rare and hard to come by, that's why we have hunted around for the most relaxing and indulgent getaways for new mums. In this week's hot seat we review Moddershall Oak Spa in Staffordshire...
With an outdoor hot tub, charming, yet soothingly-chic interiors and dozens of five-star treatments up for grabs, Moddershall Oak Spa is the perfect getaway for new mums. The family-run spa, a converted farm house, is surrounded by instagram-worthy backdrops, though you will be too blissed out to be checking your phone! Now that's more like it...
Moddershall Oaks is nestled in the county of Staffordshire and is stones drop away from er, Stone station. Being far out in the countryside is perfect for those of you wanting to get away and truly relax.
What's there to do?
This countryside delight is brimming with #humblebrag facilities that will be enjoyed by you and whichever lucky individual you decided to take with you for your visit. Highlights include a good size swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, reflexology foot bath, heated marble loungers, sauna, steam room, gym and a five-star resturant. Where do we sign up...
Let's talk food
We were spoilt to a three course dinner in the spa's restaurant, which felt incredibly luxurious - perfect for a much-needed date night! The staff were incredibly attentive, the atmosphere was moody, yet romantic and the food was heavenly. (You must try the Dark chocolate delice with blackcurrant and liquorice ice-cream!) For breakfast you can order anything from Eggs Benedict to a full English, whilst taking in the view of the beautiful English countryside. Throughout the day, you can order light lunches and snacks from the cafe and there's always prosecco on offer to make your hot tub dip even more of a treat.
We're huge fans of Elemis, so were thrilled to see the products were used during the spa treaments. There are massages and facials on offer aswell as summer specials including a watermelon body scrub designed to exfoliate dead skin cells, smooth skin and stimulate circulation. Japanese Yuzu provides a fragrant citrus aroma, while the sweet notes of watermelon awakens the senses - perfect for pre-holiday prep!
There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a happily sleeping baby. After hours (or what feels like it) trying to soothe them, when they finally drift off and silence reigns once again there’s something rewarding in peeking through the door, or checking your baby monitor and seeing your baby sound asleep.
The latest model to join the Out ‘n’ About range is the new GT pushchair. A good one for cruising around town or casually strolling down those country park roads, the GT has been designed with both the parent and child in mind.
