Toddler play kitchens to fire up their imagination

toddler play kitchen

While we all love a good mud kitchen, a play kitchen is a classic toy that children of all ages can enjoy, whether they’re playing alone or with friends or siblings.

As well as keeping your child busy (and giving you a much-needed break), a play kitchen has lots of other benefits too.

It encourages role play which gives children a chance to develop social skills by imitating grown-ups and inventing their own roles whether that’s chef, waiter, or a parent. There’s plenty of creativity to be had as your toddler experiments with the different elements of their kitchen and imagines plates full of delicious ‘food.’

A play kitchen will also provide a sense of independence as they take responsibility for ‘their’ kitchen: keeping it clean, organising and more.

It's also the perfect introduction to the wonderful world of cooking, helping tots to develop a love and understanding of food and food preparation that will (hopefully!) last throughout their life.

Review: “Cute and lovely toy. I bought it for a 21 month old girl and she loved it. She tries to repeat the colours and likes putting the plates in the “dishwasher”, opening and closing it and pressing the tap. Sometimes she stands up on the toy trying to climb the cot or throw it on the floor and the toy hasn't fissures or is broken, very good material.”

Review: "The play kitchen arrived promptly in a flatpack box and was easy to build. Both our 5 year old son and our 20-month old daughter love it. Even my husband and I found it very flattering in our home and the size is not too overwhelming. This toy being plastic, I did worry it wouldn't be as sturdy as the wooden play kitchens, but after assembling it we really saw the quality come through. The "boiling" hob was as good as real (battery operated piece that actually makes the water in the pot gurgle and bubble!) and all of us had so much fun playing with it."
