The best water tables for kids

water table kids

When the good weather comes in we turn our attention to the best garden activities and toys for our little ones to enjoy outside.

A popular toy of choice for many families is a water table for kids. These very often come as part of a half and half table toy that you can use with sand as well water and although a simple, straight forward product, there are lots of benefits of water tables for your child.

Being large enough to promote turn-taking and sharing with siblings or other kids, a water table provides lots of sensory fun while helping to encourage your tot's hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they scoop, sift, funnel, and pour. It will also keep your youngster busy for a few hours and what parent doesn't want that, eh?

Here are the water tables we reckon are worth your cash this summer.

Ahoy Mateys! Your little pirate is sure to love this water table ship. There's plenty of room for several children as well as a cannon your child will love squirting water from and a spinner to create strong tidal currents. The table also comes complete with two fun character toys and a squirting shark for added swashbuckling fun.

Review: "Very easy and quick to build up with the picture instructions. Great size and height, my 4 year old and 2 year old equally love it a lot and super occupied!! Main parts snap together nicely and feels sturdy. The accessories such as pipes and parts are easy to twist, turn, take in and out for little kids so they can try different things without being helped with everything."

Whether your little one fancies using it for wet or dry play, they can make amazing sand shapes or splash in the water with this colourful table. It also comes with a lid so you can store everything away at the end of the day.

Although it's small, this play table is a lovely way to develop your child's early skills with fishing and counting games. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, it comes with 23 pieces which includes fishing rods, 6 floating creatures, drinking glasses and a fishing net.

Review: "Brought this for our 3 year old while in lockdown for some indoor play. Will add some little additional bits to fish out, just something different to break the day up and its easy to put away. Good to pop dolls in too, small but its perfect for indoors."

If you've not got tons of room, this easy to store waterway is the one for you. Your tot can move and steer the boats through the canals, let the water lift the boat in the lock and load the container from the boat to the truck and back with the crane. It's great for fun on the go too as you can make it portable by folding the box halves together as a suitcase to bring along wherever you go.

Review: "This is the best ever toy I have bought, my son love it so much, he has been playing it more than a week and he still play it a couple of hours everyday! It not difficult to assemble it at all! My son can even put some parts together. And we left it in the garden overnight, don’t need refill the water everyday. I also don’t mind it can’t put back to suitcase easily since I don’t need to, you can simply empty the water then put it to the shed and it won’t take too much space."

We love the look of this tinted clear sand and water table with an innovative multi layered design and screw-on water valve. All legs are height adjustable making it suitable as your child grows. There are also locking castors and wheels on two of the legs for easy transport and the lid can be attached to the underneath of the tray to make a handy lipped tray for extending play opportunities or even storing water toys.

This colourful table provides plenty of sensory play for your little adventurer. They can build sand castles on one side and sail toy boats and splash around on the other. It also comes with a canopy so you can protect them from the sun when it's warm outdoors.

Review: "Bought for my youngest sons birthday he loved playing with it throughout the summer."

Put your youngster in control of their very own island with the Little Tikes Island Wavemaker Water Table. By turning a wheel, they can create their very own wave pool, plus there’s hidden treasure to find and themed characters to play with.

Review: "My grandaughter loves it with or without water, hight wise room to grow, lovely features.. she loves the hidden treasure boxes."
